"Nicholas Daniel's warmly expressive playing is a marvel" BBC Classical Review

One of Bach's greatest keyboard works opens our 2011 season, its athletic, melancholic and serious character preparing the ground for Pavel Haas’ oboe suite, written in 1939 against a backdrop of great uncertainty in central Europe.

Pavel Haas' music owes much to the great Czech musical figurehead of that time, Leos Janacek, while also infusing Hebrew chant, neoclassical and jazz elements into his individual style.

Brahms’ great A major quartet was conceived on a grander scale than other of his chamber works; hugely popular in the composer’s lifetime, it recieves a rare outing today.
