Corey Cerovsek violin __________________ Plush 8 Friday 2 September Plush Ensemble: Ligeti to Brahms Ligeti's spellbinding feat for 100 tocking metronomes opens this unmissable concert. In the sequence of short pieces which follows, pianist Tim Horton will demonstrate his humour and virtuosity with these eclectic works. Continuing the Hungarian thread which runs through the festival, Kodaly's serenade was described by Bartok as 'extraordinarily rich in melodies..a fairy world never dreamt of before'. The vast range and maturity of Brahms' C major trio brings an inspiring programme to a close. __________________ Plush 9 Saturday 3 September SOLD OUT
Plush Ensemble: Homage to France
Ravel's beautiful trio is joined by works from two starkly contrasting personalities; Rameau and Chausson. Rameau's brusque irritability and musical monomania belied his graceful, often witty music, while Chausson was a gregarious man of many interests, whose friends included Turgenev, Monet, Mallarme and Debussy. His 'Concert' won him stunning success at its premiere, bridging Franck and Debussy in style while radically employing two soloists with string quartet. __________________ Plush 10 Sunday 4 September SOLD OUT
Plush Ensemble: Hoeller Premiere/Brahms/Mozart Join us for the UK premiere of York Hoeller’s new work for cello and piano. Brahms' string quintet in F, Bruckner's quintet (3rd movement) and Mozart's String Quintet in Eb bring the season to a close.
