Musicians
Over the past sixteen years Plush has hosted musicians from around the world including Imogen Cooper, Paul Lewis, Till Fellner, Lawrence Power, Anthony Marwood, John Taylor, Mark Padmore, Alfred Brendel and Music Director Adrian Brendel.
Musicians draw inspiration from the breathtaking Dorset landscape and the support of the local community. Away from the pressures of the traveling schedule they can relax and focus on intensive rehearsals for up to a week long, without any demands except those of the music.
At Plush we strive to create a hub of ideas and encourage new musical partnerships. The constantly evolving Plush Ensemble collective will number 25 musicians by 2011; many of whom have developed close working relationships following encounters at the festival. Till Fellner and Mark Padmore’s unforgettable Schubert cycles have been heard around the world, while projects involving Kit Armstrong, and the Szymanowski, Kuss and Elias Quartets have all flourished after taking root in Plush.
There have been memorable jazz concerts with John Taylor, Hayden Chisholm and Matt Penman, and explosive tango evenings with bandonean maestro Marcelo Nisinman and friends, alongside our focus on chamber music and solo recitals. Sir Harrison Birtwistle is a frequent visitor, readily lending an ear as we painstakingly piece his complex and brilliant scores together.
Over the past three years the development of online music label Plushmusic.tv has enabled us to bring select live performances onto screen and stereo, reaching a wider audience. Developed in the spirit of the International Musicians Seminars in Prussia Cove, Cornwall, Plush aims to provide musical revitalisation for musicians and audiences alike, an atmosphere that has drawn our ever-widening community back to the Piddle valley year after year.
If you're a musician or ensemble interested in performing or recording at Plush, please contact us or get in touch via our Facebook page. Due to our small team we can't always guarantee a personal response, but will always consider samples. Thanks!
